Dead link checker

Paste up to 50 links and find the broken ones, with a Wayback Machine copy when there is one.

One link per line, or paste text and we'll pick out the links.

How it works

We ask each site for the page without downloading it, follow up to four redirects, and record the final status. For every broken link we look up the closest copy in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

What counts as broken

Any 4xx or 5xx answer, a timeout after 8 seconds, or a domain that no longer resolves. Some sites turn away automated checks with 403 or 429, so open those in a browser before you delete them.

Limits and privacy

Up to 50 links per check, and a few checks a minute. Private and local network addresses are never contacted. Your list isn't stored.
